From my “Annual Read List":
The Way of the Heart: Connecting with God Through Prayer, Wisdom, and Silence
By: Henri J.M. Nouwen
Review: I have a handful of books that have influenced my life so much that I read them at least once a year. This is one of those books. In the book author Henri Nouwen teaches on the need and value of a regular routine of prayer, solitude (wisdom), and silence. In a world over-saturated with intrusive voices, meaningless words, and unending noise, Nouwen believes (I agree) that we are in desperate need of a time and place where we can be still, block out the noise, and spend time with God. Sometimes that means talking and sharing needs, sometimes it turns into worship, and other times we sit silently and listen. These moments refresh, purify, and realign our hearts and minds with what’s most important. This is a very short but powerful book that I know you’ll be challenged and inspired by. Enjoy!
Show that was SUPER Inspiring:
LIMITLESS with Chris Hemsworth – Live Better Longer
Limitless with Chris Hemsworth
Every year I choose a word/focus for the year to use as a guide for areas of my life I want to change and grow in. In 2022 I chose Grow/Stretch as my focus with the goal of identifying and pushing past areas of my life that I’d become complacent in and/or needed to grow. This show inspired me to choose this focus and was a catalyst for what turned out to be a difficult but amazing year for growth. In each episode Chris tackles a different area of life he hopes to change by overcoming fear, building resilience, supercharging his memory, and confronting mortality. Each episode was inspiring and powerful. I highly recommend it!
Quote I’m Pondering Right Now:
“Forgiveness is just another name for freedom.”
- Byron Katie
Imagine you’re standing in a dark room. As you look around, everything reminds you of past hurts, failures, and mistakes. No matter which wall you look at you’re taken back to a different dark season of life. You look for a way out and notice a door with a small keyhole. A little beam of light somehow makes its way through the keyhole offering a little hope. You desperately grab the handle hoping to leave this dark place only to realize the door is locked. You hang your head sad and defeated resigning yourself to this place you’ve found yourself in. As you do you notice a table with a small key on it. Could this be the key that unlocks the door to this dark place? Could it be that simple? You pick up the key and it fits perfectly in the lock. You turn the key and as you do the handle turns with it. As you slowly open the door light floods into the room, into your life. You take a couple of steps through the doorway and then stop just outside the room. It is so beautiful outside the room. You can hardly believe the contrast to the dark place you have been in for so long. Tears begin to fill your eyes because it is then that you realize - you’re free!
The key that opens the door, is forgiveness. Be free today!

Quote I’m Pondering Right Now 2.0:
“Each of us is more that the worst thing we’ve ever done.”
- Bryan Stevenson
Life is too short to let what happened in the past keep you from the great things God has in your future.

Positively News WORTHY:
Our airwaves are bombarded with horrible stories of violence, arguing, and divisiveness. It’s no wonder so many people struggle with depression and anxiety. I want to be up to date on the important things going on in our world, but I can only take so much negativity. That all changed when I stumbled across “Nice News” about a year ago. Now the first news I read each day are stories of kindness, scientific breakthroughs, acts of generosity, and so much more. If you like getting the news and would enjoy some positivity along with it, you’ll love Nice News. Wake up to good news!
